About "Shepherds Pious"

No actual religious figures were harmed in the creation of this story. Some may fear that the persons named will call upon God to strike me with lightning. But, to be frank, I don't think they know him well enough to request such a favor. I'm not even sure they're on speaking terms.

I am, however, a little more concerned about temporal retribution. And, for that reason I think it provident to make the following disclaimer:

Some who have read this and other of my portrayals of Charlton Heston might conclude that I regard him as a talentless, hypocritical, self-aggrandizing lunatic; a monotonic ham who wears a Mosaic robe in his off-hours. Let me say now that I have no proof he wears such a robe.

All of the clergy in this story are made up (in the context of the story that is. I'm certainly not implying that they are made up in real life as well! No.) Although some confusion might result from the fact that my characters' namesakes are believed by some to be religious figures. I am confident that the intelligent reader will quickly ascertain the truth of the matter. One need only read between the lines.

Jerry Falwell's site does quote the Bible with gay (perhaps not the word I want here) abandon. The more striking Robertson dialogue is based on statements made by him in various writings and interviews. Some day, when you're not dangerously depressed, you might while away a terrifying hour perusing some of his more remarkable comments on history and modern times. As of this writing you will find a few of these at:

With those exceptions, my story is, as with résumés, press releases and much of history, a complete fabrication.
